Leadership Spring Volunteer Week April 23–27
Our Leadership Training Program participants volunteer their time at camp to close down winter programming, prepare the grounds for camp set-up, and enjoy the spring environment. For volunteering opportunities, please e-mail AWells@trailblazers.org.
Operation Muscle May 17–18
Time to open camp! Join us at our beautiful New Jersey site as we open camp for the season. Help us put up teepees, clean kitchens, prepare campsites, and prepare our site for the upcoming program. Operation Muscle lasts all weekend; however, transportation to and from New York is supplied daily. Please e-mail KSullivan@trailblazers.org for further details.
Leadership Gardening Weekend May 23–26
This time our Leadership participants plant the community garden for camp. The team works hard to choose the appropriate plants, prepare the gardens for planting, and finally plant the plants! The weekend is hard work but the fruits of labor are evident once the sun begins to shine. For volunteering opportunities, please e-mail AWells@trailblazers.org.

Does your child attend camp? Set aside some time on this enjoyable day out of the city to see our beautiful property and learn about the program from its experts-our kids! November 15, 2007 First Annual Leadership Training Program Celebration Night The LTP youth celebrated the success of their program with a self-produced event. It was a great opportunity to meet more of our participants, their parents, and our staff and learn more about the impact of our program.
November 6, 2007 Celebration to Benefit New York Kids On November 6th, 2007, friends and donors of Trail Blazers joined alumni and current campers to enjoy A Celebration to Benefit New York Kids. Trail Blazers’ participation in the gala event was made possible through a partnership with Youth, I.N.C., which produced the large-scale benefit for 21 other youth-serving nonprofits at the Sheraton New York. The night was a huge success and very entertaining with a grand reception and performance by Broadway’s original Dreamgirl and Tony Award-winner, Jennifer Holliday.
July 2007 Summer Learning Day On July 12, 2007, Trail Blazers welcomed guests for its second annual Summer Learning Day. Summer Learning Day is a project of the Center for Summer Learning (John’s Hopkins University), designed to raise awareness about the importance of high-quality summer learning opportunities in the lives of young people and their families, to support the critical role that summer programs play in sending young people back to school ready to learn, and to keep children safe and healthy throughout the summer months.
February 2007 Tian Jiang Performed in Concert at Weill Recital Hall David Drake (Drake Housing) and Guillaume Gauthereau of Lalique generously hosted an evening of champagne and music to benefit Trail Blazers youth. Hundreds of guests enjoyed a pre-party at Lalique then moved across town to hear the blissful music of talented pianist Tian Jiang at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. The evening raised almost $15,000 and brought many new friends to Trail Blazers.
