Our best staff members are people who:
   Possess a strong desire to make a difference in the life of a child
   Have an appreciation of and interest in the natural world
   Have previous experience working with children, particularly children from the inner city
   Have obtained, or are pursing, a degree in education, sociology, psychology, criminal
    justice, environmental education, outdoor education, or social work

   
Are willing and able to facilitate children’s growth in a challenging, rustic environment
  
Have previous experience, even if informal, with backpacking, camping, hiking, or other
   adventure-based activities

   Are at least 18 years old and have had at least one year of post-high school experience

Before Applying
Trail Blazers has been described by many people as one of the most challenging, and yet rewarding, experiences that they have had. The program is certainly not for everyone, and we urge you to think very carefully about your goals and reasons for seeking employment at a summer camp before applying to work at Trail Blazers. Dates
Staff Training:  June 13–June 27
Pioneer Session (children ages 7–11):  June 28–July 7
July Session (children ages 9–17): July 10–July 31
August Session (children ages 9–17): August 4–August 25
Staff depart: August 27th

Important Information
Days off:  Every staff member receives 9 ˝ days off during the season. Each day off is 24 hours long. There is a 48-hour break between the July and August sessions.
Hours Off: We make every attempt to give staff members 1 hour off during the day. In addition, you and your co-workers rotate in the evenings, giving you 2 of every 3 evenings off from bedtime (between 9:00 and 10:00) to midnight.
