Who We Serve
Trail Blazers is a heavily subsidized nonprofit program, which allows us to provide an outdoors-based sleepaway experience for children from all economic backgrounds. Trail Blazers primarily serves children from the five boroughs of New York City (Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) and from urban centers in Northern New Jersey (including Elizabeth, Jersey City, Newark, and Paterson).

We Care About Your Child!
The safety of your child, both physical and emotional, is the primary concern of the Trail Blazers staff. Our American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation covers all aspects of the program, including waterfront, infirmary, food, activities, staff training, and facilities. Staff training incorporates elements from what to do in case of an emergency to how to prevent and address bullying.

All groups are supervised by seasoned administrators with at least 5 years' experience working with children. Trail Blazers employs a Registered Nurse and live-in EMTs, and many staff are trained in first aid and CPR. All boating and swimming activities are supervised by certified lifeguards, and the Swim Instructor is a licensed Water Safety Instructor.

All Trail Blazers staff are college age or older and possess a love for children and a desire to make a difference. They also know how to have fun! Each staff member undergoes an intensive interview and reference check. Before children arrive, staff complete a thorough two-week training, covering all aspects of the Trail Blazers program, first aid, emergency procedure. We even train staff to prevent, recognize, and address bullying.
