Kate Sullivan – Executive Director
Kate was named permanent Executive Director in June 2005. Before this, she had served as Trail Blazers’ Interim Executive Director since October of 2004. Prior to her appointment at Trail Blazers, Kate was head of the English Department at Saint Joseph High School in Brooklyn, New York, for four years and worked at Trade Winds Lake Camp in Windsor, New York, for six consecutive summers, most recently serving as Girls Director and Education Coordinator. Originally from England, Kate is a graduate of Surrey University, where she majored in Theater and Sociology. She is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Drama Therapy at Hunter College in New York City. 

Amber Wells – Agency and School Coordinator
Amber joined Trail Blazers as a Group Leader in the summer of 2000. After taking a summer off to work with the Boys & Girls Club in Portland, Oregon, Amber returned to Trail Blazers in 2002 and 2003 as an Enabler before being promoted to Agency and School Coordinator and now her current position Director of Programs. Amber graduated magna cum laude from Occidental College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs in May 2003. As Director of Programs, Amber is responsible for all areas of the girls and boys summer camps and manages camper recruitment, staff recruitment, and program development during the winter months.

Elena Crotty – SES Coordinator
Elena joined Trail Blazers in the summer of 2006 as an Enabler and joined the year-round staff as SES Coordinator that October. Elena graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Sciences and Spanish. Before settling in New York, Elena spent two years in Northern Spain to become fluent in the language. There, she nannied and taught in a small English-language academy while taking university language classes herself. As SES Coordinator, Elena builds relationships with Principals, Parent Coordinators, and parents in New York City and New Jersey public schools. Through these relationships she recruits eligible students to attend our summer program.  

Steve Bates – Property Manager
Steve came on as Property Manger in 2000 to oversee Trail Blazers’ forested site in Sussex County, New Jersey. He oversees the maintenance of all on-site facilities and vehicles, evaluates site needs, and performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to industry standards.
