How do I get there?
If you are driving, you can use Google Maps at http://maps.google.com to get driving directions. Our address is 210 Deckertown Turnpike, Montague, NJ 07287. We are between mile markers 4 and 5. Please plan to arrive at 10:00am and stay till 4:00pm, or 6:00pm for dinner.
We are also arranging a bus. We are leaving from the Starbucks at Court and Joralemon promptly at 8:00am. Please note – this is the same day as the Brooklyn Half Marathon. The marathon route might affect your transportation options in the morning. Please plan accordingly. Also please note – the ride is approximately 2 hours and the bus will not make any stops in order to arrive at Trail Blazers on time. We will return to Brooklyn at approximately 6:00pm, 8:00pm if staying for dinner – depending on traffic.
Do I really have to stay the entire time?
Yes, you must stay till 4pm. While the Thank You Dinner is optional, we ask that you commit to the entire day so that we can have completed projects.
What are the projects?
We have a mix of indoor and outdoor projects for all skill-sets. You can indicate your project preferences in your RSVP . While we cannot guarantee you will be assigned on that particular project we will try to have your skills put to use where they best apply.
Sounds like a full day! What about lunch?
We will have a pack-out lunch to keep you fueled throughout the day, without having to rush through your projects by breaking in the middle of the day. We will wrap the day will a full, relaxing dinner to show our appreciation for all your hard work. We will have a range of options for vegans and meat-eaters alike. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice but cannot make guarantees. Please do feel free to let us know in your RSVP.
My pet loves the outdoors! Can they come?
We love animals at Trail Blazers. However, Trail Blazers already has plenty of wildlife and we prefer your pet stays at home.
I use a wheelchair/walker/crutches to get around. Is the site accessible for mobility impaired persons?
Trail Blazers’ camp site is outdoors and very rustic: with dirt trails, no paved roads, and plenty of hills. This may not be the best environment for those needing wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, etc.
Can I spend the night?
Camping at Trail Blazers is an amazing experience! However, the site is not available for camping just yet. Consider joining us for Labor Day Weekend, another annual tradition. What better way to wrap the summer than with the cool breeze from Lake Mashipacong! Details about last year’s weekend here, 2019 details will be posted soon!
What should I bring?
We will be outside in the woods. Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Also, ticks are prevalent in the woods. Please wear long pants, long socks, long sleeved shirts, and hats/head coverings. Be sure to use insect repellent.
What if it rains?
A person once said there’s no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate clothes! Trail Blazers runs rain or shine. Feel free to wear rain boots and ponchos.
